Rob Marshall, director of the new Pirates movie, and Johnny, who you may be familiar with from such films as Pirates 4 and Don Juan De Marco, are in talks to remake The Thin Man.

I like how Johnny forms little buddyships with his directors. Tim Burton, Gore Verbinski, and now Rob Marshall. He’s so friendy!

I think anyone with two eyes and taste that doesn’t stink can agree that The Thin Man is an excellent franchise, and, if cast properly, could turn out pretty great! Also, Jerry Stahl is writing! That’s pretty funny!

INTRIGUED.

  1. I want to take this away from him to punish him for “The Tourist” but this sounds really great

  2. More like the Thinsanely Handsome Man

  3. I’ve never actually seen The Thin Man, but I’d like to submit Curtis “Four Bits” Jackson for consideration. After losing a ton of weight and almost dying for some movie nobody ever saw, I think the guy deserves another chance.

  4. BIRDIE COULD PLAY ASTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. So like Johnny Depp is literally my favorite thing ever, and I have absolutely zero funny or insightful things to say about any of this, which makes me feel really bad, because a) I am excited to hear this news and 2) we all try our best to be funny and insightful on this, our favorite website ending in -gum, and I just feel all sorts of inadequate and the only way to probably assuage this feeling in me is to, most likely, give me an editor’s choice for this week for this comment. Ok? Ok great! Bye.

  6. I feel exactly the opposite way of this post! I hate how Johnny Depp is in every movie that certain directors make (I’m looking at you, The Tim and Johnny Show), and I am very upset about a remake of The Thin Man. Some things are perfect the way they are, and that movie is one of those things.

Johnny Depp is good looking, and a very good actor, but I am very over him at this point.

  7. Ballads better be involved.

  8. If Helena Bonham-Carter is cast as Nora, I may barf. But srsly, Curtis Jackson aside, who’d be great?
