You guys, it would be a shame to tarnish Videogum’s anniversary with something so callow and divisive as to play favorites while also singling out individuals for shame. This is a celebration! Also I am still really tired and think that maybe my head is going to fall off but I searched for “think that maybe my head is going to fall off” on WebMD but didn’t get anything conclusive and also as a person I’m as prone as anyone to laziness and the abdication of responsibility. But mostly it’s because this is a celebration, I’m sure. And so, for once in our blogs, how about you guys tell each other which of the comments you liked the best! Or don’t. It’s literally up to you. GOODNIGHT!

  1. ALL THE COMMENTS ARE THE BEST! WE ARE ALL GETTING OUR EGOTS!

  2. OMG! A Southern Monster Meet Up in New Orleans, you say?

  3. The entire Lawnmower Man freak out from yesterday probably made me laugh more than anything this week.

  4. I like ALL of the comments, and ALL of the commenters the best (yes, even you, Winwood)!

I’m sorry that my personal geographic circumstances prevented me from attending Monsters’ Ball 3D last night, but I’m glad that it was such a good time for those who were there.
And I’m very glad to be a part of the wonderful Videogum community. I’ve been around here for the past 2+ years as my schedule has allowed, and it’s a really special place on the internet.
Webkeep, a round of upvotes for my friends!!

  5. Dance Party, pants party!

  6. I wanted to find a gif of a 3 year old dancing since I thought that would be perfect, I could not find that so here is a youtube video of a 3 year old dancing to Salt N Pepa in their underwear that works too
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jMH_IDqyvY

  7. And here’s to Mr. Werttrew-son, The Monster Nation turns its upvote eyes to you. Who-oo-oo
God bless you please, Mr. Werttrew -son, Gabe is sick. Unofficial ball today. Hey-hey-hey.
    Hey-hey-hey.

  8. Congratulations, Videogum. You earned it!

  9. Does this mean my caption contest win doesn’t count? :(

  10. In times like these, it’s always comforting to know that we can count on werttrew to do the ranking. Because if everyone is special, then no one is.

Just kidding, I hate Ayn Rand. (Werttrew still great.)

    • My wife reads more than anyone I know. She read Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead and hated both. We’ve often spoke of our shared hatred for that woman’s cold heart (not to mention questionable “dialogue”) and the economic impact that has resulted from its influence.

A couple months ago, I saw she was reading Atlas Shrugged again. All the way through. When I asked why on earth she would subject herself to that again she replied, “I dunno, I needed something to read.” So I guess she doesn’t care about anything as long as she can PUT WORDS IN HER EYEZ.

“That One, what’s the point of this story?”
      “I like stories.”

  12. Oyyyy, it has been a rough week, am I right? Time to go and get all

  13. I had such a good routine prepared for making the ball this week.

    Oh well. Always the Ballsmaid

  14. While we’re awarding each other, have you guys noticing that FLW has been killing it? Now you are.

I’m worried about it, you guys.

  15. There was so much great stuff this week that made me laugh, but “Cool, Kiki Dunst has force lightning in this” had me rolling today.

FLW, you are truly doing the Blog Gods’ work.

  16. Gracias, Jawn. Much appreciated.

  17. Let me just say, you guys are the best. Much love from me to you all!

  18. FRUIT GUSHERS FOR ALL!

  19. Happy birthday, Videogum! You (and your residents) bring me joy daily, which is something that not a lot of things can boast.

  20. You guys know you’ve changed my life, right?

Like, how you gave me the confidence to go out and make friends and let other people read my writing and value my own opinions and stuff?

    Anyway, thanks for that.

    I love you.

  21. My mom says I’m the best commenter.

  22. Monsters in the Ball

A cherry on the sundae of the week?

    …dooby dooby do…

  23. Videogum Memories:

One of my favorite Monster Generated Images:

Who was this monster? Did they change their Avatar and now I can’t find them? Anyway &hearts

  24. My personal favourite comment of all time was the Steve Winwood Explains It All GIF. Can’t remember whose handiwork that was, but had I been drinking a beverage, I would have shot it out my nose.

  25. Happy birthday Videogum! Only 15 more and I can bone you! Legally!

  26. my favorite comment was anything that was an image. YAY ILLITERACY.

  27. I had a really awesome time at the anniversary. My only wish is that I could have met more monsters! I say next year we have name tags. Y? Y.

  28. Okay, so earlier in the week I attempted to make a Videogum birthday tribute video called Birdiequest in which Gabe would have travelled through the internet, met Topher Grace’s floating head, and transformed all of our avatars into shiba inus. It was going to be set to the Brodyquest music and it was going to be awesome.

Alas, my life is crazy right now and I was not able to complete this noble endeavour. Just know that I tried.

  29. Some of my favorite moments came from the rise of commenter tophersuxbutts, from scores of downvotes to eventual embrace. It is just one example of the power of this community to neutralize a seemingly would-be troll by magically turning into a beloved site gimmick.

  30. Sometimes I feel self-conscious and sad because all of you monsters are so ridiculously funny. I’d love to contribute, but I’m a lot…less funny. But to be honest, I’m happy to lurk. You guys are the best.

    • Oh, same here! I spend about five minutes proof reading my small contributions, thinking about ways to phrase ideas differently for more laughs…and then I refresh the page every few minutes to see if anyone has upvoted or commented on my comments. AND THEN I get sad thinking about how happy I get when internet people think I’m funny.

I didn’t know commenting anonymously on a pop culture blog could be so complicated! Whatever, love it anyway!

(This comment took five minutes to write and edit…sad times at wherewolf high)

    • All that matters is that we all love Videogum even if we aren’t funny. We are a family, and some of us are elective mutes. My boo is six thousand miles away and Videogum is the only reason we are still in love (not really but still). THANK YOU, VIDEOGUM!

  31. Come on, y’all, everyone was fantastic this week (as always), but Polythene Pam pointing out the true title of Gwyneth’s cookbook was simply the best.

  32. Monsters, they have blocked VideoGum at my work. My commenting, such as it is, will be somewhat limited. Rest assured, I will continue to check the day’s events in the evening. You all have given me so many LOL’s and

    I LOVE YOU ALL!!

  33. I don’t comment, but I read all the comments always because…Christ you guys are funny. You make my work days so so so so much better. Hooooooray!

    • That’s what I wanted to say to you all, your hilarious take on the world has alleviated an otherwise difficult time in my life. AND I learned how to make animated GIFs and post them this week. Yay! Here’s a present!

  34. Thefoodreviewer is happy, and that makes me happy.
    http://youtu.be/fv6JlILTjfg

  35. I’d like to say thank you to Gabe, guest bloggers and all the monsters for making me laugh every day!

  36. i think gabe might be suffering from ‘network connectivity error’

  37. I am so tardy to this party, I worked all day. I wish I could have meant any of you. I left kinda early and even if I didn’t I’m super self-conscience so…

  38. Oh man and I was hoping to find out if I had won lowest rated comment. Oh poo

  39. I live in the Pacific Standard Time Zone and work bunches of jobs and hours, so I have to TiVo Videogum. Just wanted to wish Gabe a Happy 3rd Birthday. Almost all of the comments for foodreviewers food review of Fruit Gushers got my upvotes this week. I was laughing so hard, I was crying; because of y’all, my neighbors think I have problems.

  40. I love VideoGum so much (uguys, notice how I stylized the V and G, amiright?) that I want to take it behind the school and start a nice Roth IRA at the bank downtown so it can retire someday. But don’t ever retire, VG! You better not retire!

  41. I love you guys, I regularly laugh hysterically while scrolling down these threads. It amazes me how creative and hilarious you guys are maybe one day I’ll stop all the lurking. Just ignore my lame avatar that was the result of a weekend Deadwood bender.
