So, I kind of missed the whole Rebecca Black thing and I couldn’t be happier. Congrats, me. (Also just catching up on Casey Heynes/Ritchard Gale thing and hating every second of it.) If you do find “Friday” death metal remixes or behind-the-scenes interviews you want to share, throw them here. This is the garbage dump for that stuff. And now: on with life, which is for the living!

  1. The other big viral video story from last week was Casey Hames AKA “Zangief Kid.” Casey is (allegedly?) being bullied by a boy named Ritchard Gale. In the video, Ritchard repeatedly punches Casey, who at first doesn’t react. After about the fourth punch, Casey then loses his temper, bodily picks up Ritchard and body slams him.

The original video. Warning: Depicts children committing acts of violence on each other. –> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrVwkqR10c8

    • After watching the Casey interview all I could think of was a solitary man writing “Listen, you fuckers, you screwheads. Here is a man who would not take it anymore… Here is a man who stood up”.

  2. “Tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards.”

  3. sounds like someone hit the Snus button one too many times last week… (thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week.)

  4. I really feel like maybe the whole Rebecca Black fiasco was 100% engineered by a committee somewhere. Like there’s some marketing team that realized that being completely and utterly ridiculous and terrible is the best way to get noticed by the internet, and decided to capitalize on that. Fuck those guys. At least Zack is still indie.

    • Yeah even though Keenan sold out at least at one point he was just a kid with a computer, you can’t create memes Rebecca Black and Charlie Sheen, they get old the next day

  5. She doesn’t have any instructions for those of us hoping to get down on some other day. Why must my getting down be limited to only one day??

  6. I went to a wedding this weekend where one of the groomsmen took one look at me and said “Hey! You look just like that Friday girl!”. This face :/ for the rest of the night. (Note: I am, like, 63. I do not look like this girl.)

    • I was going to tell someone she reminded me of the Friday girl too. I think if you watch the video enough times anyone can start to look like her. Plus it’s not like he said you danced like awkward girl in pink, so that’s something.

In other news, I unabashedly love that long and have listened to it maybe 50 times. Don’t let evil groomsman ruin it for you. Next time Santana him.

  7. Here is an existentialist reading of Friday that turns it into a masterpiece.

  8. Can we dedicate a corner of this thread to those of us who are ignoring this thing and just waiting for it to go away? I haven’t heard a single note of that song*, nor the death metal parodies, nor anything else, and I plan on keeping it that way.

*within the context of that song anyway. i’m sure i’ve heard every note and also every word included in it in other songs and things that have words.

  9. Dear Gabe,

The only things I know about the Internet and its memes, I learn from Videogum, so while I appreciate the gesture, I’ve nothing to offer here.

    Sincerely,
    Patrick T. Smith,
    Age 24

  10. I’m not really one to complain about ads on websites that provide me with tons of free content (WPP, for sure), but snus? Jeez, Gabe/BuzzMedia.

  11. I’m not sure if laughing at this means your racist or not, so laugh at your own risk.

  12. This seems like a good place to tell you all that I really actually like this song a lot. It give me pep.

  13. I realize that covers of this song are now officially numbering in the tens of billions, but I find this one to be particularly awesome. It basically flips the sentiment of the song on its head, making it much more relate-able to a relative geezer like me:

obligatory witch house remixes are the new obligatory dubstep remixes. utterly terrifying. the top rated comment says it all: “It’s like being in the front seat and the backseat at the same time.”

  15. I have the feeling we are going to see a lot of projects by teenagers on the Internet in the future. Brace yourselves, bitter fogies, brace yourselves.
