Just ten years after we thought the television people had run out of ideas, comes Time Warp, a new show on Discovery that premieres tonight. This is the show, okay?: Just a bunch of activities shown in extreme slow motion. That’s it. It looks awesome, I’m serious, for real. Here’s a guy getting punched in the face, and a wine glass breaking:

(The video has been up for a while, but the Discovery site says the show is new.) On top of how cool this show looks, I guarantee it’s the only family television you’ll see tonight that includes the phrase “defecate blood.” And you can make suggestions for things you want slowed down! i have been SO excited for this. with all the gossipgirlparishiltonbff90210 or competitive adventure competitions – it’s like t.v. forgot about nerds. thanks, tv.

  2. i’m really psyched for this show. can’t really decide WHY.

  3. I spent a good ten minutes re winding and playing the water balloon hitting his face over and over again.

  4. I saw the trailer for this show like 10 times the other night during Planet Earth. I really hope it is simply normal activities slowed down — no more, no less. I can’t take any more heartbreak from shows that look awesome but end up sucking. I’m looking at you, Hole in the Wall.

  5. This show could be 5 minutes long…..just show everything slowed, and that’s it. Do we need 3 minutes of “DUUUDE? Did you see that!!! LOOK AT HIS FACE!!!!”

  8. ahahahahahaha – The UFC guys are utterly hilarious.

And it is needlessly exploiting technology right to the brink of uselessness.

I mean, what educational value is there in watching frame by frame images of a punch or water balloon?
