Welcome back, all of our favorite pals! Can’t wait for us to go on hilarious adventures together! In the end, I think it’s pretty smart that they wait a few weeks after the holidays before starting all the shows back up. To be completely honest, the first week back after the new year was just like “What?”. You know? Like, “You’re kidding, right?”. The second week was like, “I don’t think you’re kidding. But I still don’t really get it. For real?”. And now this week has just been like, “Oh right.” And it is exactly at that moment, that “oh right” moment, when the reality of your actual, humdrum, day-to-day life reconnects with your misplaced but newly rediscovered deep-seated feelings of exhausted resignation that you want a good Thursday night TV show to watch. OH, I AM SORRY, DID I JUST BUM YOU OUT WITH MY UNEXPECTEDLY MAUDLIN RUMINATIONS ON THE DESPERATION OF LIFE? SOMETIMES THAT IS HOW IT WORKS WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT SITCOMS. They’re back, you guys! Even Parks and Recreation! Hello, Parks and Recreation! Even Outsourced is back but let’s move forward. It was a little sad, though, how they had (or thought they had to) catch us up on Parks and Recreation with a lame-o “previously on” montage. That thing was for dorks! I blame YOU, Outsourced. You are both racist AND frustrating! Oh well. As previously mentioned, life is unfair, and that certainly includes “previously on” montages. Those are right at the top of the list of unfairnesses, I’m sure.

Should I just keep going on and on forever in a way that barely even makes sense, or do you guys want to take it from here?

  1. Ron Swanson’s Bobby Knight sweater > Theo’s Cosby sweater.

  2. Just in case you missed it:

Click for big (crossing fingers it works)

  3. “Ann Perkins!”

  4. We know what art is! It’s paintings of horses!

  5. It certainly was a bummer to have to sit through “Perfect Couples.”

    • Seriously that was terrible.

      • But it’s nice to see Olivia Munn branching out from being the worst part of The Daily Show to the worst part of NBC comedies*

*not including Outsourced, which is not a comedy.

    • Oh I didn’t mind it that much. I thought it was kind of cute! I don’t know how well they’ll be able to keep it up, but it wasn’t bad for a pilot.

      • I also found it pretty ok. No worse than The Office has been for the past two years. That Lou Diamond Phillips line got the biggest guffaw from me out of the entire lineup.

    • That show made me pretty changry.

    • Ohh, THAT’S what that was?

I was sitting there going, “What the fuck is this?” for, like, ten minutes. Then I went to make some soup.

    • As a pilot episode it was pretty bad.

I did like the “dramatic exit music bit” and it kind of shows that the two dudes (really don’t remember their names) have the most chemistry of the cast right out of the gate. If they spend most of the time focused on them and less time trying to be a 30 minute Parenthood it might be a watchable programme.

  6. Hidden due to low comment rating. Click here to see.

  7. OMG, who wants to talk Outsourced?!?!?!? It was sooooooo great last night. There was this plotline where an Indian guy wanted to sing “Eternal Flame” in a contest but he had an Indian accent, which is the funniest accent there is! What was he thinking with that accent? LOL!!!!!!

  8. Bones! I definitely want Booth and Bones to get together, but I love that the show is not going down the tired old “catfight” over the guy. Brennan and Hannah get to act like adults. Although Booth is being SUCH AN ASS lately. I get that he wanted to be honest with Hannah, but he should have cleared it with Brennan first.

30 Rock was the best as always. I really loved The Office. Parks and Recreation was great, though that “previously on” thing was weird and I’m not sure that it really helped anyone who hasn’t seen the show before. Did anyone watch Perfect Couples? SPOILER ALERT: It was terrible. Very clichéd and contrived. Two of the couples are so two dimensional and serve solely as foils to the “normal, relatable” couple. Go back to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Waitress! Get out while you can!!

  10. is there where we drop off the gifs?

  11. 35 comments and no Swanson chair throwing gif yet?

I’ll hang up and take my answer off the air.

my resolution is to read more, and if someone else is driving to the bookstore i can eat my pb&j in the car. 2011 is coming up all darryl
It’s so light, like a croissant.

  13. Can someone hook a bruddah up with a Michael spraying champaign gif?

  14. What did you guys think about The Office? I thought it was the best episode of the season! This may be b/c it followed Perfect Couples, but Michael’s celebration video was the greatest. Also, Creed, Erin and Andy all had some funny stuff going on last night.

  15. I thought Perfect Couples was kind of out of place in NBC Comedies, but I thought it was still pretty funny.
“He’s a big guy, he can drink four bottles of wine.”
“Hey, I just killed this bottle of pinot.”
“I think what makes us a great couple is– No one asked you that.”

It reminded me a lot of The League, but for a more mainstream audience.

  16. Guys, as someone who was once shown a laserdisc in the 2nd grade, I must admit that they are pretty sexy. Also, BLACK MICHAEL CHIKLIS had me laughing uncontrollably and Chang on the bookshelves almost made me do a spit take.

  17. When was the last time Cerie was on 30 Rock?

  18. Can I get a .gif of Abed doing his fake malfunction loop to get out of a conversation? Pleeeeeeeeeease

  19. I’m going to live my life like it’s a work of art.

  20. Did you guys hear the story about how Amy Poehler posed for pictures as a candy striper when she was a teen? It was in a stock photo, mind you, nothing scandalous. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/celebritology/2011/01/amy_poehler_model_candy_stripe.html

  21. Jersey Shore made me LOL

  22. I’m really bad at T.V. but I am gonna do my damndest to watch the NBC Thursday night line-up regularly. Shit was so good last night. (Except for the perfect couples pilot…but it was a pilot so we’ll see.)

Next time I have to go into the city I will stop at Rockefeller center and give it a hug.

  23. Also I should mention that I had never seen Community up until two days ago. My sister got me Season One for Christmas. I watched the whole thing in two sittings.

    Man-Crush on Joel Mchale…DOUBLED!

  24. Video highlights from Thursday night include Senor Chang’s slow clap (http://gtcha.me/eEPVbW), Andy Bernard rollerskating to DMB (http://gtcha.me/fac2tU), Ron Swanson’s Pyramid of Greatness (http://gtcha.me/dI5CeK) and Elizabeth Lemon-Donaghy’s press conference (http://gtcha.me/g3fJ4g).

  25. two things:

    Troy: Black Michael Chiklis?
    Pierce: White George Foreman?
Britta: You guys are talking about the same person. He’s biracial. His name is David and he’s a human being.

DJ: It’s just you man. Any requests?
Andy: Dave Matthews Band. No singles, deep cuts only. (music starts) I said no singles!!

  26. Can we get Chang with the slow clap?

  27. Did EVERYONE miss this?
