A recent poll found deep (not deep) divisions (nope) between Democrats and Republicans when it came to their television viewing habits. Please see the Science Chart below:

If you adjust for the control group and the margin of error, carry the zero, factor in the weather on election day in swing states, and light a candle for 9/11, it’s a FACT, everybody is DEFINITELY watching television, no doubt about it. We will continue to follow this important news story as it develops! (Via WarmingGlow.)

Oh I’m sure those liberals like to watch Private Practice. They’ll have to rename the show Socialist Communist Fascist Muslim Universal Health Care Practice, amirite?
And more like The Amazing RACIST, amialsorite?
That show, The Amazing Race? Is that about white people?
-Zach Galifianakis
Don’t hate the libs, Shellbomber. They also like to watch Cash Cab.

New York liberal elitists, taking cabs!
I love how 90% of the contestants on Cash Cab are pretty much apathetic towards unexpectedly winning thousands of dollars.
“Whatever. I’ll give my housekeeper’s housekeeper a bonus and buy an overpriced painting to put in storage.”
Now… CashBus! That’s a show I’d like to see.
Oh shit. Did I just out myself as a socialist? Guess I can never run for national office. Dammit.
Goodbye, thirty-year plan!
Well now we know where CBS gets its viewers for The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men from. Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, really?
Also, I find it odd that “Modern Family” is on the Republican list, what with all the gayness. Maybe they like it because it reaffirms their stereotypical notions of homosexuals.
or this:

Ah, that’s it.
mmmmmmmmmm
gross but correct
DING DING DING! My republican roommate loves that show (as do I) and he can’t stop talking about how Sofia Vergara is gorgeous every time she appears on screen.
I can’t thank you enough.
I want Modern Family back. Maybe we can trade 90210?
Maybe it’s a gayteway show…gay-teway…ga *gunshot*
I always wondered if people watched The Mentalist
I watch it, only it’s called “Psych”.
Also, I’d love to see the Mentalist do this:
The Mentalist is my dad’s favorite show. I suspect that The Mentalist if the favorite show of many, many peoples’ dads.
You’ll note that the republicans rated it 119 and the dems 116. That sassy Patrick Jane crosses party lines! We can all agree that he has a fantastic head of hair!
Hey, I like the Mentalist! Now go clean your room.
I am utterly shocked that conservatives are into a show about a shadowy “other” taking over the government.
I’m shocked The Office wasn’t on either list.
…or Family Guy. Not because FG is a good show, but both sides have terrible taste in TV.
On second thought, maybe that’s why The Office wasn’t on either list?
needs more pawn stars.
What about Top Chef: Just Desserts?

CARLA!
HOOTIE!
HOO!
Thank you for validating my political choices, Gabe. I vote 30 Rock!
an equal number of people from both sides watch Desperate Housewives, so why can’t we compromise and get shit done during a commercial break or whatever?
I think the real question is not “Republicans are watching Modern Family?”, it’s “why haven’t they learned anything about real family values from it yet?”.
Republicans, YA BURNT!
“YA BIT Republicans!” -Senor Chang
This comment was brought to you by the letter S for SNAP!
So who do I blame for Rubicon not being picked up?
Oh man Rubicon SUCKED!!!!!
The first couple of episodes were a bit slow and unfocused, but then it picked up considerably and turned into a great workplace drama.
How many hour-long episodes of a show is one supposed to watch before it “picking up”? Get to the point already!
Agreed with shoogyboom. Yous gots to be good from the get go, go man go oh brotha not anotha mothafucka fucka gots to go now
Lot’s of shows don’t hit the ground running, it took 30 Rock a couple of episodes to get funny. Does anyone actually like the first season of The Simpsons?
I think I watched half that season if not more and never got it. Love Mad Men, than counter-terrorism whisper hurried talking team is on.
WHY ARE WE NOT TALKING ABOUT THE NEW BBC MAD MEN TYPE SERIES STARRING FUCKING MCNULTY!!!!!!!!!???????????????????
If I recall correctly Mad Men AND The Wire took a couple of hour long episodes before they “picked up.” I also think those who stuck around during the whole season of Rubicon found the entire experience worthwhile. It’s a shame.
you recall incorrectly because both those first episodes are good
Man, the Republicans watch some shitty-ass shows.
Well, if my political alignment is determined by my television choices, I need to go re-register and change from independent to democrat.
One of us, one of us
So, NO ONE watches Little People, Big World? How has that show been on for like 5 years? Why am I the only person on Earth that dvr’s it?
What are you, some sorta Libertarian?
Oh god no! I hate most. Although now that their eldest(&tallest) son is 19 and has suddenly become dreamy…I mainly watch for that.
Team Jeremy!
Holy cats, i want to see the libertarian top tv-shows list so much now.
You think those loony, PC-happy lefties would hold off until the show renamed itself “Mad Persons.”
Or “Persons of Different Sanity”.
or “The Good ‘Ol Days”
That’s what the Republicans want to name it.
This really opened my eyes! Before I had assumed that 1-15 on the conservative side would all be Monk.
Tom Scharpling 4-eva!
Shouldn’t more Republicans be more into Dexter? He’s pretty much a walking endorsement of the death penalty and a tough on crime approach.
But hang on. The numbers in parentheses represent the opposing party’s score, and The Good Wife scored 124 for Democrats, and 119 for Republicans, so why isn’t it on the Republicans’ list? It ought to be placed higher than Survivor, which scored 118.
This is completely a conspiracy to make it look like the two parties have no common television interests. EXPOSE THE LIES, SHEEPLE.
Correct. This whole thing is a total nothingchanger.
Yeah, this blue-red back and forth is a real Neverending Story.
I detect a sarcastic tone in these environs
Whhhhaaattt???? Noooooo. Not here. Never.

I love this comment!
The fact that this list exists makes my heart sad. I’m going to need to withdraw a little bit from my LOLk to get through this. Also, I’m not sure how Republicans could be watching more Big Bang Theory than Democrats. There’s some major conflict of ideology, amirite?
I surprised Law and Order: SVU isn’t on both lists. Wasting a Saturday on those all day marathons transcends party lines
I can’t handle that show. Only time I get stuck watching them is when I have the sicks- and nothing is better for fever delirium than worrying about torture rape or whatever.
Those two head detectives are such moralizing assholes, and the other two are powerless, wacky ethnic sidekicks. Then it’s all LET’S GO INTO DETAIL ABOUT SEXUAL VIOLENCE! God that show is terrible.
wait…people watch private practice?????
Democrats love them some Kate Walsh.
I’m loving Duh Aficionado Magazine’s double issue this week.
What does it mean if I watch more Republican shows than Democrat shows (Other than me having bad taste)? Do I need to change parties?

Yes, but combined they’re still no match for the black hole that is Glenn Beck.

you forgot Kortney and Khloe take Miami.
Kortney and Khole take Miami? WTF, dems? If Democrats are somehow keeping E! a highly rated network (sans the Soup), I welcome 2012 with open arms
Totally, teapartier! Whereas republican shows like The Bachelor, Survivor, and Desperate Housewives (which – sidenote – actually got the same score from libs – good totally neutral presentation of the results of your survey, science guys) are Chock Full ‘o Morality! Party of Lincoln indeed!
Parks and Recreation!!!!!
Come baaaaaaaaaaaaack

”Talking about writing about what I’m doing. Now I’m singing about talking about writing about what I’m doing…”
You’ve got pickle hair babe, and you’ve got it from me!
Hmmm, I prefer Mouse Rat’s “Sex Hair”
Isn’t this just another sign that the Dems need Jon Hamm in office? Now.
Republican’s overwhelming preference in mind-numbing reality tv and derivative scripteds (excluding a few) shows that they have very short attention spans while Democrats tend to go for the more scripted ground-breaking original series (again excluding a few). It’s not perfect, but it almost makes sense.
Also, I’m no ratings expert, but if Republican-preferenced shows overwhelmingly get better ratings, doesn’t that mean that people who participate in ratings surveys tend to vote Republican? Aren’t the Nielsens supposes to represent the entire viewing public? Or does it just mean Republicans watch more TV?
It means this is garbage science.
If you look closely at the numbers, a lot of Democrats are watching the shows on the Republicans’ side as well, whereas very few Republicans are watching (most) of the “Democrat shows.” On the Red side, most of the secondary numbers score in or close to the hundreds (with the exception of Glenn Beck). This is not the case for at least 50% of the shows on the Blue list. So it’s not just the Republicans who are driving crap like Two and a Half Farts up the ratings chart; Democrats are just as much at blame.
In conclusion: the chart means nothing, obvs.
That should have been either “at fault” or “to blame.” Couldn’t make up my mind, so I combined ‘em.
I don’t agree with Republicans at all and in fact I think as they become more and more beholden to the fringe elements of their party, they’re becoming outright dangerous to society. That said, Amazing Race is a fucking good show. They’re right to watch it.
“Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami” is the second highest show among Democrats? That’s it, I’m re-registering as an Independent.
This list is completely wrong, because they put the Left on the right, and the Right on the left. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, classy Obama, classy.
