Every time that you think ideas could not get much worse, ideas get much worse.

  1. This movie is why all of the studios should go bankrupt… This and Battleship, the Movie.

  2. You never know, it might not be all that bad.

  3. That’s your comment.

  4. When asked who commissioned this movie, Fox and Walden Media cited Ida Know and Not Me.

  5. Bing you let me down again. You failed to mention the best Adaptation… The Nic Cage kind and also bing please don’t even come around here saying Adaption and Neon Genesis in the same sentence… Sorry everyone I feel like bing is playing with me sometimes.

  6. “he called the meatballs meat bulbs!”

  7. To recreate the source material’s original charm, FOX has promised to install custom circular screens in all participating theaters.

  8. I foresee a terrible “dotted-line trail joke” in this film.

  9. This comment is too on the nose to be legit, right? (please? oh god, please)

From “Redhead”: “I always enjoyed reading this comic strip as a kid and continue to enjoy it. The appeal is the simple humor you get from your children and the things they say. They take things so literally!”

  10. I think they’ve been holding off on this as long as they have because the special effects just weren’t there to accurately capture Billy’s dotted line paths.

  11. Sounds like the found the right guys for sure. This basically sounds like a Family CIrcus strip:

“Among other projects, the writers worked with Baldecchi on their comedy script Scared Guys, about a couple of agoraphobic roommates who have to venture out of their building and across the street to prevent a murder.”

    • I think this premise, in the proper hands, could be a REALLY GOOD movie. No sarcasmo.

      • agreed. maybe a director capable of taking such a premise and turning what was meant to be a humorous concept into some kind of tense thriller? just throwing ideas out.

      • I can promise that if this was a pitched to a studio exec, by the time the rewrites were done, we’d just have another Dumb & Dumber sequel because THAT’S WHAT AMERICA WANTS.

  12. “We determine who runs your country.”

  13. the real crime is that “Cathy” has been passed over once again. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride. Ack!

  14. I am more concerned about the person who wrote that article, and the fact that they specifically chose to put in two comics that involve Jeffy not wearing pants. That’s a perfectly normal move, and not at all unusual or creepy!

  15. The Lockhorns are SO pissed right now…

  16. This can only mean that a Cathy movie is on the way, presumably starring Katherine Heigl.

  17. I learned everything I needed to know about Family Circus from this guy…

  18. My campaign to get this comic strip shut down is going very poorly

  19. I hope they keep the circle framing of the original. Maybe at the end, they could reveal that the whole movie was being viewed through a telescope? Just an idea!
Also, make it 3D and the game should have an ice level.

  21. Shut it down. Shut it all down. 2012 can’t come fast enough.

  22. I’m looking forward to the movie version of Omar Sharif’s bridge lessons (staring Amanda Seyfriend and Justin Timblerlake)

  23. One time Batman & Robin were on TV and Jeffy called them “Baskin & Robbin.” I’ve used that mistaken identification interchangeably when referring to either the ice cream parlors or the comic book characters to great comic effect. Thank you Family Circus.

  24. (scottmeetsfamilycircus.tumblr.com ‘s latest update)

  25. i HATE family circus SO. MUCH. i hate even more the fact that i know it is terrible and not funny, but every DAMN sunday i read it anyway and get even more crotchety. worst.

  26. My god, I’m afraid Videogum is going to collapse from the gravity of everyone trying to riff on the same tepid, overly-well-tread humor territory this strip has been sucking dry for the last million years.
