As you may know, comedian Zach Galifianakis is in a new movie coming out called It’s Kind of a Funny Story (in theaters October 8th). Based on the trailer, it looks like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest for the SEXTING generation. I’m pretty sure someone throws a Zune through the bathroom window and escapes wearing nothing but their hospital gown and a pair of Heelies. Anyway, in anticipation of this new movie, and because we love Zach Galifianakis, but especially because we were paid by the movie company to do so, we have put together this Sponsored Tribute to Zach Galifianakis. Enjoy!
Go see It’s Kind of a Funny Story on October 8th! And follow them on Facebook!

“…although the movie looks fine.” Does anyone speak Gabe? Can you translate?
Advertising? You’re doing it wrong.
This really makes me want to see that new movie, Comedy Central Presents Zach Galifianakis from 2001.
Post made at 5:00, first comment made at 3:56? I suspect there is a flux capacitor involved in these shenanigans.
Great post, Gabe! I love Zach too! Nothing better than flicking on the tube, settling in to watch Zach Galifianakis and enjoying some Cheez-It brand Baked Snack Crackers! Cheez-It: Real Cheese Matters!
Do you mean Sabor de Soledad?

Ahora con mas semen del toro!
This makes me never stop laughing.
Here’s kind of a funny story:
I write books for a living. I wrote one for which I was incredibly excited and an editor took it on, saying, “You should read ITS KIND OF A FUNNY STORY” because this sounds exactly like that book. So I read it and, funny story, my book was almost exactly like ITS KIND OF A FUNNY STORY. So, ha ha, after three years of painstakingly writing said book, I threw it out because it was already a bestseller written by someone else.
That said, I will see this movie. Because I am currently unemployed and have nothing better to do.
That’s kind of a sad story.
A super sad true love story. Wait…

This story is not that funny at all. I am actually really sad now.
Aw, thanks for the sympathygum. It’s okay, really. I rewrote the whole damn thing and added vampires and werewolves and pogs and Demi Lovato so I should be rolling in dough any minute now.

HA HA HA HA HA HHAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“You know what? I have good ideas. In fact, I used to carry around a notebook and a pen, just to keep track. Direct marketing? I thought of that. It turned out it already existed, but I arrived at it independently.”
In the TV Movie where Gilligan and friends actually get off the island, the Professor returns to work at his university. There, he invents the frisbee and skateboard, and thinks he is on top of the world. He is mystified when colleagues tell him that these things already exist now. He doesn’t know what to do with himself.
That has stayed with me, obviously.
On the bright side, apparently you come up with really great ideas for stories?
That’s superkind, dude. Thanks!
I am so curious what books you have written. A Walk to Remember? Gravity’s Rainbow?
I am guessing you might want to keep your lives separate. Understood! I won’t pry. But I will register that I wondered, and that it’s pretty cool you can make a living at it.
Like Hotspur, I also was curious about your other books, and went to your blog, linked in your profile, hoping to find out more informtion, but didn’t. I understand why, though.
Yeah, sorry about that. It’s my friend’s old blog (I just liked the name.) The pseudonymity of videogum is too delicious to pass up. I also like to imagine that everyone’s avatar is a real life picture. Mmm. Huckabeast.
This movie has Zach Galifianakis, the gay son from “United States of Tara”, and features my favorite Broken Social Scene song in the trailer. It doesn’t have to try so hard to get me to go see it!
So each commenter gets a cut of the pie, right? I’ll email my pay pal info.
Hmmm … how does a Zach Galifianakis retrospective not include at least one scene from the Between Two Ferns episode featuring Natalie Portman???? It contains the single funniest thing Zach has ever done:
Zach: “You shave your head for V For Vendetta…”
Natalie: “Yeah.”
Zach: “Did you also shave your V For Vagina?”
Looong pause.
Natalie: “Um … pass.”

I’m seeing it for Emma Roberts. Just to be different.
In the off chance people here haven’t seen it…
This is the video for Fiona Apple’s “Not About Love” from her Extraordinary Machine album, featuring Zach lip-syncing, critiquing, & modern-dance-interpreting the lyrics of the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u09s0uz0tEU

which funnily enough shows an ad of said movie pre-clip!
I enjoy Anita Baker unironically. Zach has helped deepen this appreciation.
