It has now been revealed that David Letterman knew Joaquin Phoenix was a liar during their historic interview last winter. Boo! The world is so annoying.

Really? He was in on it the whole time and didn’t tell us? Shame on you, David Letterman. This is the worst thing you have ever done!
Oh wait…..
David Letterman = greatest late night talk show host ever:
Conan = awesome human, moderately entertaining talk show host. There, I said it.
Yes. You said it. *Downvote*
Half of the love and accolades Conan receives is just a manifestation of how much people loathe Jay Leno, myself included.
Nope.

Letterman is baws. In his defense, I think we all knew that Phoenix was acting.
Just to be clear, I have always liked Letterman. Conan just has it all, in my opinion. BUT, that’s my opinion, and I respect that you have yours as well. Group hug?
I read this story at least 2 days ago and didn’t tell any of you about it.
At least Crispin Glover is still legitimately wacky
Crispin Glover wacky? You must be thinking of another Crispin Glover (there are so many Crispin Glovers after all).
Is this from Back to the Future?
Man, next you’re going to tell me Ashton Kutcher dreamed up the whole thing. If Kutcher is part of this, then my faith has been deeply shaken. *weeps*
This is how he felt when he woke up:

Can we all agree to not care about this story anymore and move on, please?
Srsly. We thought he was off on a two-year vanity project fueled by self-indulgence and drugs and instead he was off on a two-year vanity project fueled by self-indulgence and.. irony?
More like denoueNOT.
I kind of wish Letterman didn’t know only b/c I where’s the risk for Joaquin Phoenix? Since it was really a two years performance piece, take some risk dude. Burn some bridges. Bc in the end who was duped? Fans & people hoping for a train wreck
I thought we knew this when this clip initially came out and Joaquin took off his glasses, shook Dave’s hand, and said “great job” right before the show went to commercial.
I think it’s weird that they are so adamant about getting the truth out there so quick when I don’t think most people have even had a chance to see the movie yet. I haven’t, and frankly the dwindling controversy = my dwindling interest (which is dwindling from a very very small amount, or even shall we say modicum, of interest at that.) Doesn’t show a lot of faith in their own social art project.
Whatever, rich people gonna make their arts, and I’m gonna go perpetuate my man crush on Jon Hamm (seriously, you could have a two hour movie of that guy eating cereal and I would buy the ticket SO FAST.)
$12.50, please.

I think we should’ve known because of this guy.

The great thing about Andy Kaufman is that I’m STILL not sure…
David Letterman, thespian.
Hey guys, why is everyone shocked and saddened that David Letterman was in on it? To believe the opposite is to believe that Dave is an easy mark and naive enough to fall for the most obvious stunt in recent showbiz history. To the contrary, he’s brilliant and canny, and would never fall for a trick this dumb.
Long Live Letterman.
I will never understand the love that David Letterman gets on this site. Just because he is funnier than Leno, doesn’t make him funny. If you think he is any more sincere than anybody else, you’re crazy. The guy is a fucking millionaire ten times over.
And we all know you can’t have money and genuine human emotions at the same time.
genuine human emotions have nothing to do with sincerity as a performer, which is what this article is about.
You make very little sense.
“Just because he is funnier than Leno, doesn’t make him funny.”
True. Being funny makes him funny.
“I saw Ben Affleck’s brother taping the whole thing from offstage”.
yeah, fuck this movie now. i wanted to see it. now i don’t.
