true story: in elementary school i was on a competitive jump rope team, and this song was what we would do our super awesome routines to. the fact that i can no longer cartwheel into double dutch makes me sad. and also not as cool as myself at age 8.

Does anyone else remember that MTV show Lip Service, which was just a big ol’ lip-synching competition? The best part was how if you won, you came back the next week, so this one group who did “100% Pure Love” was on for like nine bazillion weeks running. I loved that song so much in fifth grade.
I downloaded a torrent called “100 Dance James from the 90s” it might be the best thing I downloaded all year.

This sort of indicates, and maybe I’m really late to this realization, that everything we’ve ever done that’s been recorded will at some point be uploaded to the internet. And if it’s radical enough, more than just your friends’ contacts on facebook/youtube/vimeo will see it.
What I’m getting at, guys, is if one day you see a videorecording from the mid-’90s of what appears to be a children’s version of The Pirates of Penzance, and the ginger who’s obviously taller and older than everyone else overacting her way through the role of “Ruth” gives you the Schadenfreude-giggles, you know, maybe say something nice in addition to something zing? Because maybe the naiver among us never imagined a world in which the analog past would become our digital present and SHAME.
Your comment makes me very glad that no one videotaped a children’s version of Pirates of Penzance featuring a dirty blonde wearing glasses and fuming because she’s stuck playing ugly sister Edith and that bitch Megan totally got the lead role again just because she’s a better singer or whatever.
