The American remake of Let The Right One In, Let Me In trailer, you guys:

More vampires? More vampires. Of course. Always Be More Vampires. Coffee is for vampires. I suppose since this is a remake, it is grandfathered in. Also, the original, Let The Right One In was really good. So you can’t be (TOO) mad at this. But “Needs more Apocalypse Rock” is definitely what I said the whole time I was watching the original. “This is too interesting and subtle and moody. It needs some fucking DICK ROCK.” My friends were like, “Can you stop talking through the whole movie? It’s kind of ruining it for us.” And I was like “Read the subtitles, you don’t need to hear this. I wish you couldn’t. I wish you couldn’t hear anything over the awesome soundtrack that is just the kind of thing I would listen to on my headphones before DRIVING A TANK INTO A WAR.” So, thank you, remake.

  1. “I suppose since this is a remake, it is grandfathered in.” Ugh, this blog. Perfect.

  2. Not to be nitpicky, but the original is called “Let the Right One In”. I also agree it was very good! And this one looks not so terrible!

    • Parts of the trailer look almost shot-for-shot……staying loyal is a good move, especially because the original is so great, but it would be kinda lame if it was TOO loyal

      • As an huge fan of the original film and an equal if not slightly bigger fan of the book which I read afterward, this leaves me conflicted. When I first heard about this, I immediately hated it. Sight unseen, duh. However, when I read multiple interviews and articles stating that it would be a re-imagining with differing plot points and NOT a direct remake, I was slightly encouraged. Now that the trailer is out, it looks a hell of a lot like a remake to me. Like shot for shot in some instances. So fuck this movie, it will be terrible and I will still pay $15 dollars to see it.

    • That is not picky. That is just FACTS. I have updated the post to reflect your corrections. Please send all factual and typographical errors to tips@videogum.com

    • The original movie did make cuts from the book (as is only natural, and also THANK GOD FOR SOME OF THOSE CUTS, amirite? (no terrible terrible pun intended)), so I am intrigued to see where this movie will go.

  3. They should have saved this title for the inevitable movie adaptation based on the life of that man trying to get into the Eaton Centre during the G20 riots

  4. Team Subtitles!

  5. They actually named the remake “Let Me In”? Was “The Right One” deemed a bit too complex for American audiences?

“Let the RIGHT ONE In? Who the fuck is the Right One? No, no, change the name. Just put Me, that works. Let Me In.”

  6. this one goes to 11.

  7. Whats with the morse code at the end of the trailer, Mr Trying to be as Mysterious as That Time I Directed Cloverfield Guy? I bet it either says “let me in” or “do you like mudkips?”

  8. Isn’t that the adorable little boy from The Road? He was good in that! I would call him the male Dakota Fanning or something, but I wouldn’t want to insult him, so I’ll just say I’m happy he’s getting a starring role!

Also, using “From the Director of Cloverfield” to sell a movie is the equivalent of saying “From the mind of Diablo Cody.” It just doesn’t work.

  9. Why are the vampires not sparkling while Muse plays in the background?

  10. Am I the only person who didn’t like the original version? I mean, they removed most of the transgendered pedophilia from the book, but they did not remove ALL of the transgendered pedophilia from the book, which is just confusing. All or nothing, Sweden, come on!

    • I will say that reading the book after seeing the movie was….different. And by different I mean gosh, there was far more transgendered pedophilia than I was expecting!

    • I think if I had read the book (or even knew it was a book) before seeing the movie, I may have not liked it as much. Ignorance is bliss, right? (Wrong.)

  11. Damn, Chloe (Grace?) Moretz is just the most badass 13 year old actress. Especially with her unusually deep voice.

    • I agree, but it is only a matter of time before they bulldoze her house and everyone complains that Danny Boyle did not give her more money. Probably.

  12. I always get Let the Right One in confused with that Spike Lee movie

  13. So I will never see this movie because I am a wimp. But! I was intrigued by the plot so I went to wiki and read about it and felt content. Then I read this about this adaptation:
“The main characters names have been changed to Owen and Abby in order to make the film more American.”
Okay, in Harry Potter American Stylz they changed the word jumper to sweater and I can almost understand that. Kind of. A little. But changing character names from Oscar and Eli to Owen and Abby? Really? Goodness.

    /rant.

  14. This annoys the crap out of me.

I’m sorry, but are there really that many people who want to see this particular swedish vampire movie but don’t know how to read or have an aversion to dubbing? What in Gabe’s name is the reason for making THE EXACT SAME MOVIE in English?

I didn’t even like the original to begin with (although, yes, it is a good movie. babies in love with old people masquerading as babies and killing for them is just not my thing), but I can already imagine how much worse this one will be. Through the magic of Hollywood, since all they are doing is basically translating.

  15. I’m excited for when the marketing for this movie shifts to serve the Twilight Demographic. Just do this same trailer with any song by Pink playing in the background.

(P.S. The original Let the Right One In is great!)

  16. No, no, a thousand times no to remaking “Let the Right One In.” I told them not to go there, but Hollywood just went there. Ugh.

  17. SPOILERS! it looks exactly the same. And the advertising will be full of morse code. Just what kids love! Gimicks and morse code.

  18. i think the remake is going to be better because let the right one is in swedish so and i love chloe moretz…………..
