This is basically Heath Ledger’s touching “I’ll Be Missing You” hit single tribute. The only difference is that Heath Ledger wasn’t a rapper and doesn’t particularly need a touching hit single tribute, Heath Ledger died of an unfortunate but self-inflicted drug overdose rather than a gang-style assassination, it’s coming two years after his death, and it’s performed by a 24-year-old white rapper who I don’t think actually knew Heath Ledger in real life. Otherwise, Heath Ledger = Notorious B.I.G. of acting, for sure. (Thanks for the tip, Thor.)

  1. Mo’ Oscars mo’ problems.

  2. Can you ever just be whelmed yo? Can you ever be whelmed?

  3. Heathcliff loves you. Heathcliff saves.

  4. And yet somehow Sting is not involved…

  5. “I loved you in “10 Things I Hate About You”, used to watch that shit every day. Dope.”
    word.

  6. Did they actually film some of this video at a skate park? That is soooooo Avril Lavigne of them!

    • I heard the hardest part about making this video was getting all of the roller bladers out of the park. Nobody wants to see those poseurs.

  7. Kirk Lazarus posted
Pump your breaks, kids, that man was a national treasure.

  8. “Yo, the first time I seen you act…” Need he say more? Yes, he need.

When does a “dedication” become an unhealthy obsession? See above.

  9. Clearly the problem here is that this makes too much sense.

    • I put on my monster sleuth hat and did some investigating (google search). Apparently this artist is Dialekt. Upon closer examination I found out he is Australian and grew up on Guam (“Growing up on the US island of Guam DIALEKT was able to absorb and master the art of freestyle rapping and continues to build on his skills that are elevating him in the music industry”). Heath Ledger was also from Australia creating a connection between these two artists. My trail then went cold, and I could find no clues as to why 2 years past between Heath Ledgers death and the creation of this song/video.

      • It took to years, because that’s how long it takes to write a freestyle rap song. Am I understanding the definition of “freestyle” correctly?

  10. Tribute songs – how do they work?

  11. Poor Kieth Ledgers…

  12. This is so lovably misguided.

  13. (beat box sound with mouth)

    And I’m here to say
    I hope you have a
    Brokeback Jokerrific day, friend
    A rip-rap-rippity-rooooo

  14. Why so serious, yo?

  15. Well they are from the same suburb, so this makes total sense

  16. I just prefer my rap songs to be a little more sexist and materialistic.
