Just kidding, they are totally legal. If anything, they are TOO legal. Danica McKellar is 58 years old.

“It was really challenging, but I never gave it up too soon, if you know what I mean.”
She’s probably talking about acting, right?
I reread that quote a million times. I do not know what she means.
Well, this answers all of my questions about the last episode of Wonder Years. I can finally move on with my life. Thanks, Gabe.
Better than those Mayim Bialik pictures from Stuff
Upvote this forever!
Mayim Bialik was on What Not To Wear a little while ago. She’s a PhD. now as well. And also, really great.
What is it with child stars getting PhDs? Is that why the academic job market is tanking ? It’s only a matter of time before Ben “Boy Meets World” Savage is appointed Dean at Yale. Oh yeah, and I’m sure James Franco and his multiple advanced degrees has a hand in this, somehow.
She’s pretty.
“She’s a charming and intelligent young woman.” — #oppositeSteveWinwoodquotes
“Boobies!” — #realSteveWindwoodquotes
I agree with all three of you.

So being a math genius, published author, and super-good-looking lady DOESN’T meant your self-esteem is high enough to resist the allure of posing for gross old Maxim. TMYK.
Tell me about it…
she has to have low self esteem to want to be in Maxim? because then she’ll know she’s getting looked at by men and that they fine her attractive and that will make her feel better about everything? oh, the male gaze, i’m still learning so much about you! #jezebelgum
You have to agree that there are few, if any, hyper-successful male academics who would take off their clothes in magazine.
If you’re genuinely ignorant of what’s wrong with a society that encourages this sort of behavior, I would encourage you to read Ariel Levy’s Female Chauvinist Pigs. Unless you’re just being a troll, in which case I totally fell for it.
This is how I feel about singers like Katy Perry and Kesha. They have an attitude, that is reflected in the young folks of today, that women, to be cool, have to be “like one of the guys.” That is, they have to drink until they pass out and be “raunchy” and “laid back” and “not an uptight bitch” or “on their period.” ETC. I live in a college town and it seems like there is alot of pressure for everyone to be a half-naked, beer-ponged nimrod.
Winnie is clearly very smart and successful, and I am happy that she feels comfortable with herself–I am all for people feeling good. But, ohthehorrorofitall is right: there is an expectation there for women–”Hey, that degree is great, but why not show us that you aren’t some uptight ice queen take it off.”
Can I move to your town, Mans?
exactly. I just imagine the editor-bros at Maxim calling her agent, like, every day for weeks: “Come on, Danica’s so hot, doesn’t she want to show off that hot body? She’s not ANTI-PORN, is she? Because Maxim’s not PORN, we love women, come ON. We’ll say the title of her book more than once, and the writer will mention how intimidated he is by her brain as well as her hot ass. COME ON.”
And eventually she gives in because SHE’S FUN, TOO!!!!!
Thanks for articulating, Mans — my blood pressure got too high to post anything coherent.
I live in Boston, college town times a million, and all the girls are always half naked.
What is WRONG with you people? I am moving to boston right now, thanks for the hard sell (get it?)
Just so you know, I’m ALWAYS on my period.
Female Chauvinist Pigs is a fantastic book. Good call, ohthehorrorofitall.
I also think the Ariel Levy text is a good read. I mean, the feminist sex wars in the 80s have always been interesting for this reason, because they’ve become these polemical politicized positions that only result in a lose-lose situation. The anti-porn activists somehow got aligned with the crazy evangelical Right, and lefties were like “take it off!!” Both seemed still within this fishbowl where nothing got better for the ladies on this front, and readers of Maxim everywhere um don’t care.
I suppose it would be wrong to vilify McKellar for her decision (she can make decisions for herself), but there is something that you lose as a role model for those middle-school girls for whom you’ve written books saying “Girls can be great at math, and don’t need to fit into this box that tells you what values/interests you should or shouldn’t have.”I also think the Ariel Levy text is a good read. This pictorial is like 13 years too late for me, no lie
About Time, Maxim. Life. Sheesh.
With that body, she could probably make the “I’d Rape That” 100.
IT’S A 30 ROCK QUOTE AND ALSO A SADDENING REFLECTION ON THE OBJECTIFICATION OF WOMEN IN OUR SOCIETY, PEOPLE. sheesh.
Not saddening at all, friend.
Alright, winnie cooper not very naked. nice. I’d like to show her my “mini cooper.” If she knows what I mean.
wait, actually, i hope she doesn’t know what i mean. shit.
do you mean the chocolate turtle head emerging from your butt? You actually have a name for that?
I laughed so hard at this. sorry rick moranis
Oh. Whoops. I thought we were talking about a different, sexier Winnie…
