On last night’s episode of the Daily Show, Jon Stewart impersonated Glenn Beck for 15 minutes. I am pretty sure that is a Glenn Beck Impersonations World Record.

  1. I don’t know about a world record, the guy going around as “Glenn Beck” has kept up that act way longer than 15 minutes.

I’m thinking it’s like the Andrew W.K. thing.

  2. Just for the record, I voluntarily had that chip implanted in my head to tell me when to masturbate. It worked fine until Daylight Savings Time kicked in, and I was suddenly programmed to to my “morning routine” during work. *embarrassing*

  3. I could not believe what I was seeing. I’ve never seen the Daily Show start up like that, and Stewart really committed. LOVED the glasses.

I felt extreme anxiety when he crouched down next to the display with Bert on it and the chalkboard slowly slanted. “Please don’t hit your head. Please don’t hit your head. We need you, Jon.” He did clip his head on it, but barely. It could have been much worse.

  4. I think the previous Glen Beck impersonation record was also held by Jon Stewart. He broke out the impression for a 7 minute segment last year, which was awesome at the time, but he really stepped it up for this. Hats off, sir.

  5. I don’t even know what to say. I don’t know how Glenn Beck does it. This constant deification of the Founding Fathers into the 12 Disciples and the Constitution into the Word of God is so patronizing to not only his enemies, but to his audience. Government has always been imperfect, even the Constitution. (Remember what “amendment” even means?) What first principles does Beck want us to “get back” to? When only white men who owned land got to vote? To just after the 13th Amendment, or maybe just after women were allowed to vote? Is that when we had gotten everything just right?

The fact is, Beck needs things to always be broken. If the Perfect Conservative came along to rule us all, he would spend his time talking about how opposition was treason rather than how we were being led away toward slavery.

Sorry to get all politicsgum. Shorter me: Glenn Beck is really the worst.

    • the problem with beck is that he really does want to go back to a simpler time when racism was socially acceptable and men who loved other men had to hide in the shadows. he is a bigot and a fucktard and i really am looking forward to the day when him and those like him (i’m looking at you lou dobbs, who i realize is now off the air but i have a sneaking suspicion he will be back in some form or another) are no longer given platforms from which they can spew their hatred.

      • That may be true, but I just don’t understand how he can actually believe a lot of the crap he says. It barely holds up to the slightest scratch test. He’s not a dumb guy. He’s making millions, and he knows how to whip up hysteria. Those are not skills just anybody has. So how can someone smart enough to lie (I’m sorry, “ask questions”) about what he HAS to know is bullshit, day in and out . . . Well, how can someone like that sleep at night? Horizontally on his pile of money, I guess. That, to me, is the worst kind of person. An abuser of people’s trust.

He’s getting so many people active in government, which is kind of awesome, but it’s like getting people to exercise and telling them the best way to get healthy is to lift up a garbage can and dump the coffee grounds and dirty diapers right into their mouths. “For the first time in my life, I’M EXERCISING!” Kind of, I mean the lifting is good, but all that trash is kind of not in your best interest.

    • i mean, my crazy racist grandfather does this same routine all the time, and also throws in inappropriate sexual comments. so maybe the answer is alzheimers? alzheimers is what causes glenn beck to be total wackadoo?

  6. i really would appreciate if someone could make a gif out of the “king of the castle” moment when stewart waves his hands around while talking about government mandated programs to sterilize jews.

    he is just. too. funny.

  7. jon stewart wears chucks with his suit! the same ones i am wearing now! i am apparently five, because this is the coolest thing to me.

    • I’m no chucks historian over here (Vans, Laces, and Hegemony thesis focus), but I think Stewart wearing a suit with chucks was a ‘quotation’ of Glenn Beck wearing suits with chucks. Just another important detail in the demagoguery/image control of Glenn Beck.
