Oh man. So, we are aware that some of you are having trouble actually resetting your passwords. I am not sure why it works for some but does not work for others, in the same way that I am not sure why anything on the Internet happens. Please be patient! We will try and get someone to fix this as soon as there is anyone who is actually awake. XO.

  1. I did it fine! thanks! cheers!

  2. it took me a few times, but eventually it let me in!

  3. Persistence is the key!

  4. I had a problem, but figured out what was wrong:

When you reset the password and get the email, you can’t just log in to the videogum ‘sign in’ field, if you try that it will just look like it processing forever and never work. You have to follow the link in the 2nd email that wordpress sends you and log in there… that will take you to a page where you can update your profile.

I apologize for the lack of humor in this comment.

  5. It didn’t work for me! I can’t log in!

    J/k.

  6. and when you want to get a new password you just type your new one in both boxes!

  7. Apparently, you need to reset your password every 108 seconds.

  8. I think I might like this redesign.

  9. i fear change

  10. It took me a few times tries (and some yelling… quite a bit of yelling) but it finally happened in the end!

  11. I just said that I forgot my password. Everything worked for me!

  12. Mine didn’t seem to actually work from the link in the second email, but when I tried the temporary password in the sign-in box linked from the main site here, it worked just fine and I was able to login, so folks might want to give that a try if the other way isn’t working.

Or perhaps it was just random luck, in the style of the great and terrible internet.

  13. As much as I am digging the new site, I am pretty down on the comment functionality. Not having them all on the same page, not being able to click through to the comments from the main page(until x amount of time or a certain number of comments makes it pop up), not seeing scores and responses on the profiles. We are nothing without our comments! Is there a way this is going to get resolved, or is this it? Anyone agree with me?

    • I agree that there should at least be a way, although it might take an extra click, to see all the comments on one page. Will add to list. And the scores and responses appearing on profiles is a known issue that will get fixed eventually. But I’m not sure I understand the problem about clicking through to comments from the front page? You should be able to do that. I can do that. Unless you are talking about the comments on this post, in which cast this is a “quicklink” post so it operates a little differently, and is something we are working on.

    • I’m able to see all comments on one page. I’m on Chrome and VGum was always a bit cranky, but now everything seems to be working as it should. Success! Now, can we talk about this color palette? Purple, YES ALWAYS. Dijon mustard brown-yellow? UH…..

    • I think it depends on the type of post from Gabe whether the comments are accessible from the main page or not. It seems those posts with a photo or video have this and the quick posts (like this one) do not.

    • Why does everyone keep saying that the comments aren’t on the same page? Am I missing a secret link to the “real” comments? I see 49 comments on one page right now. Confused.

  14. Oh man! I have to go to the bottom of the page to click through to stereogum now?! I have been wildly inconvenienced.
Also, good work webernet men. Change and Hope 2010.

  15. Does anyone know how to upload an avadah? I nothing without Elliot!

  16. You have to click Forgot Password.
When you get an email from Videogum (WordPress), you click on the bottom link in the email. If it takes you to an error page or something, you close out that tab and then return to the email from Videogum (WordPress) and click on that bottom link again. At that point, it took me to a Reset Password screen. Once you reset your password you’ll get another email from Videogum (WordPress) with some crazy Matrix password. Click on the link provided in that same email (the one with the new password). You should be at a WordPress screen. Enter your username and new password and you should be taken to a very limited Edit Profile page. Where you’ll be able to edit your profile and then in the upper left-hand corner, you can go to Videogum signed in as you. Just think of Topher Grace while you’re doing all this and you should be fine.

  17. I can’t see replys to my comments (not that I get any) or votes for my comments in my profile. How will I know if people are judging me!??

  18. I understand that there are kinks to be ironed, but the fruit of this post’s “Read More…” (i.e. 8 words) was a little disappointing.

  19. When you first enter the castle, go left. There should be a chest there with some coins and the shield of Garrunth. Equip this before you proceed. Go back right and enter the main hall. Take down the fire bats with your bow and arrow (should be easy by now). Step on the platform in the middle of the room The Snakebeast will appear. The weak point is the big bulging eye. If you already have the ice arrows, use those on it. Otherwise just hope you have enough arrows and keep on firing. After you defeat the Snakebeast, your password should reset. Hope this helps!

  20. Hey! It’s “kate”. But for some reason I cannot log in or reset my password at all. When I get the e-mail link me to this magical mythical change password place, I am taken to a dead WordPress site. Help? Anyone? hello?

  21. HEY! Where the F is Double Dog? I know she’s gone, but we still love Lindsay, this was our link to the past!

  22. The real problem here is I have no idea where I got my avatar and I may never find it again. How will you all know to completely ignore my comments without reading them? I’m sorry. :(

  23. What about Videogum CHAT! Does this mean I will have to do work after 2:30 on Fridays?

  24. Wow, that felt a bit obtuse, but we got there!

Note: It somehow killed the illusion for me when I was taken to a wordpress profile page. I thought Videogum ran on Unicorn Farts and Butterfliy Juice. NOW I KNOW THE TRUTH.

  25. I was going to come in and yell I DID IT I AM SMRT but seeing you all ruined that dream. Thanks dream crushers! Also I’m digging this new site, it looks all official and business like now. Videogum: Where )) does meets (( for ever. You can have that one Gabe, for the downloadable blog business cards.

  26. i just want to say i, for one, am grateful for the black hole of time last night where comments got erased. i left a really gushy reply to That One’s comment on the Oprah thread b/c i thought it was SO FUNNY, and when i logged in this morning and was kind of relieved it was gone. although, That One, if you are reading this, you are so funny.

  27. You know, “next” and “previous” have no meaning on the Internet. I never know what I’m really clicking.

  28. Check, 1–2–

    I’M BACK!

  29. (obligatory positive comment about how awesome the new re-design is), BUT…. as a frequent reader/infrequent commenter, I find it a little annoying that I now have to log in to view the thumbs up/thumbs down. I understand having to log in to actually comment and vote, but since I rarely log in, I’d rather be able to just view comments/ratings as they are. Was this intentional? It’s really not that big a deal if I have to log in every time, just curious if it’s a change that will be made.

  30. I think I got it now, but thanks guys!

  31. Hmm, my avatar is different, and the comments on my profile page aren’t mine. Maybe I’m just missing something, and that’s how it’s supposed to be?

  32. I am embracing change!

  33. My only complaint is where is the monster who used the “Oh Lawd!” dog avatar? I miss that avatar, and that monster. :(
