I don’t normally post celebrity stuff, but this development actually affects my enjoyment of one of the only two things worth watching on TV right now. At least one Mad Men cast member, my favorite one, like everyone’s favorite one, is apparently a Scientologist or hanging out with Scientologists in a chummy enough way to imply mutual group membership. Elizabeth Moss, “Peggy”, seen here at last night’s Scientology Party For Scientologists At The Scientology Celebrity Centre Of Scientology:

Say it isn’t so, Getty Images and ONTD! I guess Leah Remini’s Scientology didn’t ruin The King Of Queens for me. I’ll just try to think of it that way. Yeah. Why couldn’t this have happened to the chick who plays Joan?

There’s no way Leah Remini would allow a rack like Joan’s into Scientology. She’s still reeling from the recruitment of Laura Prepon.
You say that Leah Remini didn’t ruin “King of Queens: for you, but the whole rest of the show did, right?
Indeed.
Yup, she is a practicing Scientologist, and actually volunteers/works/does something at one of the missions here in LA. I mean…if its ok for Peggy, then Scientology cant be thaaaat bad right???
scientology isn’t a religion, it’s a career move. it’s like the rotary club for actors.

To me it doesn’t matter what religion a person takes on as there own. HOWEVER, after researching scientology I cannot bring myself to watch movies with acting scientologists filling the roles. I understand the MAIN belief factor for this religion is about the same as the basis for buddhism, but the whole thing about having to pay money for your lessons and this stuff about an intergallactic “person” named Xenu is what thows me off the mind trail. I just don’t understand how these “celebrities,” who are active role models (whether they care to be classified as such is neither here nor there, a celebrity is in essense a role model for the youth of this country), can tout this kind of mindless mendacity. Through these “celebrities,” who don’t appear to have actually researched this religion at all and who recieve preferential treatment (Of course they want to be scientologists…have you seen the Celebrity Center they get to stay in on their visits to the church?!) the ultimate goal of the church is recruitment. If your ultimate goal is to be the best type of person through balance and harmony of your world become a part of any of the free religions that are out there and donate your money if you feel like you have too much and want to give it away. Don’t let someone tell you that the only way to become enlightened is by PURCHASING your enlightenment. This religion was “discovered’ and catalogued by a science-fiction writer and there it should have stayed…in the science-fiction section.
