Okay, I’ll go easy on The Today Show, who this morning exposed the shocking truth about “those so-called viral videos on YouTube” — some of them are advertisements! Anything that helps The Today Show audience be more educated consumers is fine, and I’ve “fallen for” my share of viral marketing. (Like that “office freakout” that turned out to be a viral ad for Wanted.) Meredith Vieira talks to Donny Deutsch about not believing everything you see on YouTube:
I’m still sad that the guy filling his jeans with helium video wasn’t real. I don’t care that it was an ad for Levi’s, it just looked like a fun thing to do.

Ad executives are such liars. He kept saying “people are smart, people are smart”. No. Donny. You. Are. Lying. People are dumb *&%#s. Ad exec’s know this best: People are dumb. It’s why movies like “Baby Geniuses” actually make money and at least a couple million of these stupid folk have rented/bought “Battlefield Earth”. Yeah. These people sure are “smart”.
Marketing people make me want to murder. Bill Hicks said it best a long time ago…
