Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Friday Night Lights will end after its fifth season. My main concern is that it just isn’t enough time to tie up all the loose ends and resolve all the mysteries. This show is my constant.

  1. Oh sure, FNL had to come to an end some time, but they’ll be back next year with Friday Night Lights: The Pep-Boys Years.

  2. As much as I’ve enjoyed this season, and as much sense as it makes to start over with new kids instead of following the old ones around after they’ve graduated, etc. It feels a little weird trying to get into the show when I expect to see all the characters I’ve come to love in it. I sort of feel like it’s told its story and run its course. I just don’t care as much about Vince’s mother and Becky and Luke’s issues as I did when it was Street, Riggins, and Lyla’s love triangle, when Saracen broke down, or when Landry killed that dude(Just kidding. That part was awful).

    • When Landry killed that guy, I felt like they were writing this show just for me. Murdering someone in a fit of adrenaline is something that every teenage boy deals with at some time.

    • What? Who are Becky & Luke? I don’t have DirecTV and this is killing me! Now it’s just over before I’ve even had a chance to enjoy this season? I’m leaving work early today.

  3. There should be a TV law that requires shows to end after 5 seasons. Get in, tell your story, and get OUT.

But, for the record, I really love a lot of the new cast (except Becky, but even in that case I enjoyed watching the way the writers worked her storyline). How can you say you feel no empathy for Luke or Vince? Have ye no heart? And Landry is still around. Landry!

  4. I don’t have Direct TV but I’ve been keeping up with this season on the interwebs. At first I wasn’t into the new people but now I really like Vince and Jessica. Becky sucks though..

  5. I’ve never seen this show. Are you people enjoying the show genuinely or is it ironical?

    • Genuinely! I love them all so much, even Becky. She’s sweet and lonely; teenage girls without proper parental figures make a lot of mistakes. Julie Taylor and her massive sense of entitlement are working my last nerve, lately (as far as my nerves and Friday Night Lights go).

  6. Nooo! I am addicted to hot abs and realistically rendered human misery!
Realistically Tim Riggins cannot hit on high school girls forever though. I do not want him to turn into the Roger Moore of modern television.

  7. Whatever, you guys! Becky is cute and spunky and jailbait for Riggins–what’s not to like?

I’m so sad about this though. I guess clear eyes and full hearts can lose. :(

  8. It’s not that much of a surprise. When DirectTv made the deal with NBC, it was only up to season 5, and then it was expected to end there. It’s a miracle that the show lasted as long as it did.

Not that I’m complaining. I love this show soo much and I would be happy if it lasted forever.

  9. Well all right then. Let’s get these last two seasons out on dvd so I can watch them. I don’t have DirecTV!
