Look, let’s just be honest with each other, because we are all adults here and we no longer fear THE TRUTH. I didn’t actually watch any of the TV shows last night. SO SUE ME. The thing is, I was at a Big City Comedy Club watching this up-and-coming young comedian that I have heard a lot of great things about, Max Silvestri, open for some dude named Aziz Ansari, and the show did not get out until very late because you are only young once and only in New York. My head would be in a total yogurt cup this morning, but my head is too busy heading out to a doctor’s appointment, because I am human, and sometimes humans FALL APART. What I’m saying is that you guys are going to have to hold down the fort for a little while. But between all of our old favorites (Community, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and The Office) and the season premieres of both The Sarah Silverman Program and Important Things with Demitri Martin, there is plenty to talk about. I think you’re ready, and I trust you. NO PARTIES! The numbers for the police and the hospital is next to the fridge.

I have the weirdest boner right now.
Community won so hard last night.
Community definitely put the most significant deposit into my LOLk last night. Especially “Shut up Leonard! Nobody even knows what you’re talking about!”; perfectly executed random humor.
That LOLk had a particularly nice payout because it turns out, Jeff DID eat all the macaroni. And it’s weird that Leonard knows that.
First off, I love argyle sweaters and second Aziz can wear an agryle sweater. guh-rowl.
also: I want a gif of the Ghost of DJ Rumba. Get to work internets!
of course I meant Roomba…but i am a spaz.
I hope Aziz patents DJ Roomba. That was amazing, a dance party we can believe in. “Whats hot DJ Roomba?”
“My pocket squares!”
yeah. i’ve got a crush on tom. his ADORABLE fashion show! *no gloves!*
and then the pizza with canadian bacon and sausage….because, y’know, she’s canadian and he’s hot and spicy. *swoon*
I need a “What’s Crackin” belt buckle. Of course, you can also make it say “What’s Crackin’ Boo”.
“My pocket squares!”
Can I have a delete button please?
Not bad werttrew, but I’m gonna need the first shot from between the legs as The Ghost of DJ Roomba comes around the corner… Make it happen GIFmaster! (that should basically be your username)
THANK YOU WERTTREW!!!
Were there any rape/Jew/AIDS jokes in the Sara Silverman show last night?? Man, those are super funny, and she’s a lady, so that makes them funnier.
And I kind of have a problem with how frank she is with her sex life in her routines. The recent bragging about having a hand-shaped bruise on her ass because her new “lover” spanks her, uh, is too much information.
DJroomba vacuumed up my heart.
Is there a reason Demitri Martin is considered funny? I’m not sure I’ve laughed once at his show, but I keep trying.
i don’t know, it takes some creativity to make all that chart jokes. then again, i don’t like when listening to jokes makes me feel like i’m at school.
Honestly, I watch his show, and I giggle at him, but that is also the exact same thing I did in 10th grade when trying to catch the eye of the harmless, affable boy in English class. So, I guess what I am saying is that my opinion really isn’t valid in this case, as I appear to be smitten with either Dimitri Martin or my television.
I’m a fan of his stand up (at least the These Are Jokes album) and some other stuff, but the show is…I don’t know. I feel it’s missing something most of the time. But I still appreciate it being on TV for some reason.
agree. i strongly dislike him and his brand of gentle comedy.
Kick Puncher, you’ve met your match!!!!
I felt like after a weak-so-far season and so much time off, this was a bit of a do-or-die (I-love-hyphens!) week for The Office, and it kind of died. Maybe, like Michael Scott, I just need to give Sabre a chance, but maybe I also don’t need to see another dozen episodes about how Michael hates change and likes to do things his way.
Andy and Erin are the best, though.
I’ve learned to lower my expectations. It’s helping! I’m enjoying the episodes now.
Case in point: THE INFANTRY. I died.
ALSO: When Jim snapped and told the guy he shouldn’t be using a child’s bathroom. His expression was dynamite.
and… I just watched it to see if it was as bad as everyone says. It wasn’t. At all! Scissor me? David Wallace’s son drumming throughout the time at his house?
Hahahaha, I forgot about scissor me. Thank you.
Just to be clear, I don’t think the show is terrible at all! I definitely LOL’d! But I think it’s not as funny as it used to be, and the show is losing momentum with all the time off, and the effing clip show, and this felt like a chance for rejuvenation…new company, new characters, new challenges. But it ended up feeling like, “oh look, more people who try to stifle Michael until they soften and realize that he seems to be effective.” I think it doesn’t help that the rest of Thursday night is on a roll right now.
Topless arguments and infections caused by jacuzzi water.
Somethin’s killin’ all the birds in my neighborhood.
I’m calling Child Services. This is neglect!
So are we gonna facelift bar in http://videogum.com/chat or what?
The best 30 seconds of television ever, in my humble (meaning correct) opinion, was in Community when Jeff says the so-and-so about possible sexual partners within families followed by 50 cuts of the characters looking at each other. I was lizzing so hard that I could barely keep my eyes open to see it all the way through.
And at that moment, I KNEW I’ve fallen in love with Chevy Chase.
I was dying insides, the best part of the show!
I DEMAND a gif of Ron Swanson joyfully searching of a Nutriyum bar underneath his seat!
Or when Aubrey Plaza( I STILL can’t remember her character’s name) checks her teeth in the mirror and turns around to glare at the cameraman.
I woke up this morning feeling like shit and fully aware that in a few hours I will be buried in 14 feet of snow. At that moment I knew it as fact that this day could not be worse but shortly there after, it happened. Fucking “Party in the USA” start playing in my head. So now, I’m trying to deal with my wine induced headache and the head cold probably brought on by poor hand washing skillz but all I can think about is noddin’ my head and movin’ my hops like “yeah.” Its not uncommon for me to wake up with completely random songs in my head but when you’re 47 years old and your bones are creaking due to the impending snowy death heading your way, you don’t want to have little miss achey breaky in your head! So I’m humming along like the Jay-Z song is on while making my coffee when is dawns on me. I know why this shit fest is playing in my head! The (God damned) Office. UGGGGGGHH. How I hate you The Office. You’ve been unfunny and terrible for at least two seasons now, probably more, but you’re on in between two legit funny shows and I’m too lazy to turn the channel. So, The Office, please, for the love of God, end it this season and there will be no hard feelings!
I kept waiting for someone to make fun of Jeff’s Edward Cullen-esque shirt during the last part of Community…then I realized that he was genuinely trying to pull it off…
i know~it was like seeing a teacher try to work that look.
Yeah, I was sure that was set up for a joke when he walked in with that shirt… but then the joke never happened and I just kept staring at the awful neckline for the rest of the show. YIKES!
haha, I noticed it too and it was SO BAD. The wardrobe department clearly cut a deal because Vaughn was wearing the same exact shirt but in white. (And wearing it better. Sorry Joelly.)
I heart Important Things with Demitri Martin, his voice is like watching a lava lamp, weirdly calming.
Jenna has at least one incredible line per episode so far this season on 30 Rock. Last night it was the initial reference to her mother: “She’s probably down there, sitting on a curb, chain smoking, waiting for me to come out; just like the day I was born.”
But there was also: “Would a bad mother raise a daughter who was engaged to a congressman when she was 16?”
Can I please please please have an Andy never falls .gif?
Two wrongs don’t make a right…
Dad’s away so I’m going to get a little wild here: Community tries too hard. I want to like it as much as the next person, but the forced “random” + the on the rise sentimentality = not as good as I wish it was. Dj Roomba, on the other hand, knows what’s hot.
I think it’s my cup of tea, because it’s random for its own sake, but more because it’s still an acutely self-aware show. I don’t always like it when jokes are written to be uber-meta, but for some reason, I love it in Community. When disappointed Chevy Chase stands up after not “getting” a screening of Kick-Puncher 2, states that he knows he is funny, and immediately falls over Señor Chang’s popcorn bowl, the care that the writers have for this extremely talented ensemble is revealed to me.
I can’t get enough of it.
fair enough. I don’t agree, but I can respect that. I can also say that I will watch without hesitation when they create the Senor Chang spinoff.
I think I’m somewhere in the middle of you two when it comes to Community. When I watched the first 2 episodes I was not impressed and felt like it was all too forced to be funny, but then the characters grew on me and I was pleasantly surprised with Joel McCale’s likability.Lately though, or after about the 3rd or 4th episode it was clear that the show became self-aware of the fact that they were trying too hard, and so they made that their schtick…and that’s ok, I guess, because I still enjoy watching it…but I don’t think I’ll ever revere it like I do 30 Rock. The writers of that show (and actors delivering the lines) have found the most perfect balance of hilarity without feeling like a collection of strategically placed one-liners. Since, lets be honest, almost every other line of dialogue in 30 Rock is a one-liner, but delivered with subtlety–making it all the more brilliant!
But in the end, I still look forward to watching it friday mornings on hulu (friday mornings are the best!), so it must be doing something right.

I am betting on Bruce the Funny Dog for the Puppy Bowl.
Unpopular opinion time: I can’t be the only one who thinks Community is kinda lame, can I? I mean, I really, really want to like it – everyone and their mothers like it, dogs like it – and I’ll get a chuckle out of it once and a while, but I think it’s my love of Alison Brie that’s really the only thing that keeps me tuning in each week. I think my funniness radar is on the fritz. Oh, if only I could love it like I love Mad Men…
Also, I didn’t think The Office was bad at all. At least they actually addressed how lame Pam and Jim have become. Hooray for meta-ness!
im kinda with you on this one, but Community has grown on me at a pretty impressive rate. i think at first it was way too much Joel McHale and now everything seems to be a little more cohesive.
In all humble sincerity; would someone please explain the merits of Sarah Silverman to me? I guess if I have to ask I just don’t “get it”.
What are the merits of any tv show? It is entertainment, but in this form it?s a gross, rude, nonsensical satire world- like an adult cartoon. and if you like that stuff and don’t take it seriously you’ll enjoy it…but you don’t have to. different strokes.
but seriously, her orange gaybours are probably a more real depiction of queer folk (even if they are played by fauxmos). and i am a SUCKER for crazy musical numbers. also, having your sensibilities challenged is just good exercise.
Hey guys, we can offer our concerns about a show, it only shows we care for it! Regarding Community: I LOL a lot at it, but I understand its criticisms. I think it’s a show that is trying to figure what it is. It obviously began as a Joel McHale/Chevy Chase vehicle but is starting to realize that we all love the Troy/Abed angle as well as the incredible Trudy Campbell (that is her name TO ME). So I think we’re in a weird transition phase as the show becomes LESS Jeff and Britta focused and more group oriented (much like Parks and Rec had to figure out that the supporting cast needed more time). We can build on this!
If you ask me, it gets better every week.
Getting to know Aubrey Plaza’s (gay or bi, not sure which) boyfriends on Parks & Rec makes me feel like they’d fit in nicely commenting on Videogum posts – though of course, I’d take the actual earnestness of Andy’s double-handed high-fives over the sarcastic type any day of the week.
Andy almost makes me feel bad for not liking Dave Matthews.
When Annie said that Vaughn wanted to show her a cloud that looked like a pumpkin, I thought it was sweet. But I honestly can’t see what either she or Britta sees in this guy. He looks sweaty and he has tiny nipples!
Okay, You know what? I think I am going to be setting the agenda here Okay? Could everyone gather around please. Important announcement, really Important announcement.
I think this is a perfect opportunity for us to participate in some very intense psychological revealing conversations.
So we are going to be playing desert island, Who Would you DO?, and Would you rather?
Okay three books on a desert island? Angela? Go!

Whoa! We got maybe one thread to last all day while Gabe gets his wiener defrosted or whatever, and you NSFW it in the first hour. Maybe if I hold my thumb over the boobies, nobody in my cubicles will see them. No, no, now it looks like I’m massaging that girl’s boobs AND that guy’s feet with my giant eight foot long thumb! Gulliver’s Threesome!
This is probably SFW where I work.
Los Angeles.
oh man dad is gonna be so mad!
I should point out the aforementioned and seen above picture was pulled directly from the ‘Worst Movie of All Time’ entry in this here Videogum for none other than The Last Kiss – credit where credit, or in this case…shame…is due.

Anyone else watching “Archer”? It provided LOLs a-plenty last night (if not being a tad more grating than in weeks past).

Your post is tearing me apart, super! On the one hand I want to agree with you for liking Archer because it is great. But I also want to disagree with you for trashing IASIP! Why can’t you let them both just be GREAT??!!
We’re on the same wavelength here. I feel like “Archer” achieves the level of gleeful, unabashed offensiveness that “Always Sunny” only thinks it is achieving. With Archer, I even somehow manage to like the shameless characters, too. But I’m not here to tear down “Always Sunny,” I’m here to build up “Archer.” Watch this show people!
Ergh, that was of course in reply to super! and not Sr. Garage Face.
It’s GAR-BAGE, but point taken.
i love archer! i tried to describe it to someone and all i could come up with is south park meets the venture brothers meets casino royale (the david niven one.)
I think it’s more South Park meets Stephen Colbert’s “Tek Jansen.” And it’s not funny.
Did anyone else notice all the random/adorable dances and weird faces that Aubrey Plaza kept making in the background of different scenes last night?? Wasn’t it spectacular??

While I do not agree with your comment that “Community” is terrible, I do find it to be consistently disappointing. I feel like it has everything going for it except sustained funniness. With McHale in tow, though, I feel like it will eventually get there. Someone will have to let me know when it does…
Hey, it’s there now
I REGRET NOTHING

DJ ROOMBA! TEARING IT UP!!!
I’ve never fallen in lover with a gif. But I think I’d like to marry yours.
I thought the best line of last night’s Office was “Have you ever considered you’re not as charming as you think you are?” It’s like Bobolit from Nip/Tuck was saying what I have wanted to say for 3 seasons.
last night’s parks and rec cemented my undying love for this show. WHAT’S HOT DJ ROOMBA????
i am currently collecting gif droppings all over the internet to get my fuckyeahparksandrec tumblr up, bitches.

Is anyone watching Modern Family? Because you should be watching Modern Family. It’ll definitely increase your LOLk portfolio. And that’s Wednesday nights, so your portfolio/nights of LOLs will be diversified, I mean spread out a little. Whatever, stop taunting me! Just watch Modern Family. OR DON’T if you don’t want to laugh a lot. Whatever I’ve confused myself I’m out. Also: Community? Thank you! Thank you.
Oh you monsters voted me down for Modern Family? Well you will RUE THE DAY when that is one of your favorite shows and you are thanking me and we are all commenting about it LIKE A FAMILY. RUE IT!!!!
THE OFFICE has so relentlessly jumped the shark it is painful to behold.
“You didn’t believe in me, but I believed in myself. Just like the last scene of every movie.”
You’ve got it all wrong. It’s “Let’s paint, exercise and facelift bar!” Get it together, alfiwuo, IF THAT’S EVEN YOUR REAL NAME.
