Yesterday’s Miley Cyrus dance party video reminded me of a hardcore show I saw in the basement of a friend’s house years ago. After seeing some old footage of the band, I made this. I’m the meme now, dawg! Point is: more hardcore shows set to Miley Cyrus plz, Sandra Bullocks’s The Net.

True story: I’ve been living in a city called Barranquilla, on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, for 5 months now. After being completely unsurprised by the mix of salsa, merengue, reggaeton and other Caribbean music that is popular here, I was shocked to come across a counter-culture of death metal and hardcore when attending a local rock festival. Most of the bands at the festival were pretty standard rock, classic rock, etc., but whenever a hardcore band took the stage, the crowd was in full body-check mode. I managed to stay on the periphery and avoid putting myself in danger, but all I could think about was how grateful I was (for my own safety) that it wasn’t a Miley Cyrus Dance Party.
I like seeing everyone’s Youtube commentor alter egos.
