My DVR forgot (that is how DVRs work, right?) to tape the Saturday Night Live Christmas Special last night. Luckily, the whole thing is on Hulu. Not that I have time to watch it. I’ve got an International Computer Crisis on my hands! But while I am busy gathering a crack team of our planet’s leading Y2K10xperts to tackle the important issue of my computer’s monitor not seeming to respond maybe due–as one friend who knows about this stuff (so basically, a Leading Scientist) suggested–to a corrupted logic board, you can watch it now. And you can figure out if and when they got it wrong. “Hey, wait, you did not include my favorite thing in your compilation of best things!” One of the most classic complaints. Although, while I was waiting on the phone to talk to Professor Future at the Genius Center (huh?) I did watch the opening segment, and I have to say that Gilly’s dance was pretty good. I’m not saying that we have been wrong about this Gilly thing all along. I think we have mostly gotten the Gilly situation right. But good dance. Very festive. XOXOXMAS.

  1. Kissmas sounds like a dirty holiday.

  2. Apple Support has the worst hold music ever.

  3. The Gilly bumpers were completely unnecessary! Now that that is out of the way, I enjoyed the Goulet skit re-run or whatever.

But the best was the Glengarry Glenn Ross skit (duh): “Put down that hot chocolate you son of a bitch….hot chocolate is for cobblers!”

  4. way to really drive the fact that I didn’t have a holiday party to go to last night home, NBC

  5. I only saw the very end, during the Schwetty Balls skit. That’s all I needed to see anyway.

  6. that Steve Martin Christmas Wish bit is the best.

  7. I forgot how funny those TV Funhouse videos were.

  8. I kind of wish that I hadn’t JUST watched my SNL Christmas DVD, because a lot of the sketches are the same, but it was good entertainment, nonetheless.

Also, I don’t really mind Gilly. I think Kristen Wiig is hilarious.

  9. My DVR forgot to record it, too, Gabe. And yet it always remembered those Weekend Update episodes that played at the exact same time.

And I don’t care what anybody says, Gilly rules. She has that unnameably weird/absurdist essence that a lot of SNL has picked up over the last few years, which in my opinion is why it has gotten so good.

  10. Hey, Maria Bamford has a 1 hr homemade Christmas special. If this has been posted, sorry, my life has been way less Videogum lately.

  11. GABE: Do not go to the genius bar. Call Apple and tell them you want to ship it to their magic computer fixing center directly, they will send you a special box shaped just like your computer to ship it in, postage paid. They do this service for people that don’t live close to an Apple store, so that they may also get their logic boards rotated or whatever, but if you tell them you had a bad time at the Genius bar and act real nice about it they will usually send you the box. The store usually has to ship it out anyways.
And look I’m not condoning being a whiny entitled asshole customer but really I have had 3 AWFUL experiences at Genius bar’s and it’s just not worth the stress.

  12. I was looking for the Mr. Robinson’s neighborhood Xmas sketch with Eddie Murphy.
I’m surprised they didn’t include it:

  13. This was the best 30 rock episode ever.

  14. I wish Santa was MY boyfriend.

  15. I wish Santa was MY boyfriend.

    • Thanks videogum, making me look like a total dunce. I guess Santa being my boyfriend is my number one wish, AND my number two.
