What a year 2009 has been, you guys. So many people died, or were trapped in balloons, or not trapped in balloons and then threw up on live television. But despite the ups and downs (get it? Ups and downs? Balloon slang!) one thing has been consistent throughout: really great viral videos that were so fun to watch. After the jump, I have posted a montage of the Best Viral Videos of the year. Now, as I pointed out last year, while this compilation is comprehensive, it is in no way complete. There simply isn’t time! We’ve got to keep moving, Lawnmower Man-style. So there are definitely some glaring omissions. Like Royale’s performance of “J-Koko,”, and Raaaaaaaandy, and this short film about delicious burritos. Nevertheless, even without the inclusion of these videos, I feel confident that you will find this montage to be a captivating, thorough, and most of all HEARTBREAKING tribute to this year in internet.
Well played, 2009. Clever year.

2009 was the year that brought Juggalos into my life, therefore it is the best year ever.
i went and checked to be sure, but my faaaaav video ever on this site was last dec so it is not eligible for this. http://tiny.cc/XDgtr and it did not make the cut in 2008 best of. i just wanted to highlight the golden deliciousness of that post for everyone. but as a whole, this 2009 retrospective is much better than the 2008 supercut! good job!

Wow the burrito girl is amazing and I somehow missed it when you first posted it. Thank you. I am about to graduate with a B.A. in Film after years of trying to find a major and wasting money on degrees I never earned(except an associate in business after my school dropped their marketing program which was my first major), and that video made me realize that I wasted my late teen and early twenties chasing a degree that will never let me achieve the level of dolls singing about burritos. I guess my new dream is to spend five years as a film loader hoping that one day I will be able to move up to 1st Assistant Camera. Thank you for the reality check now I am going to drink my sorrows away and until I am able to face my new reality.

Sigh. I’ve been ignoring this fact since May 8, but it’s time to stop lying to myself. Drunk guy singing in the shower looks a little bit (a lot of bit) like a guy I used to date.
That was brilliant. Also, because I know it doesn’t necessarily qualify as a viral vid with the homegrown attributes of so many of the fine inclusions here, but I’d like us all to not forget the contributions of Joaquin Phoenix’s appearance on David Letterman way back in the beginning of 2009. Let us never forget.
