The whole entire point of internet lists is to get a rise out of people, so I’m just walking into the trap of this visual list of the 100 best movie posters (via Kottke) that actually seems more like a list of 100 random movie posters. Getting into the actual ordering of a top 100 anything list is People Who Wrote Letters To The Editor Of Entertainment Weekly Even Before Email Existed pathetic, and I get that they’re trying to offer up more of a variety of different kinds of good posters, but seriously THIS IS NUMBER FIFTEEN?:

Way above Chinatown, The Graduate, The Silence Of The Lambs, Manhattan, it just makes me so angry…oops, I fell for it. There are some good posters in there, though, if you ignore the ordering and the entire concept behind it. (Also, Duets.)

wow, that is total crap. probably a tenth (or less) are even designed well. i guess they are going for posters with icon images, but even that, it’s not a good list at all.
Wow, indeed! What a horrible list they compiled over there. The poster you show above is hot and all, but, um, really? No mention of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly? Or countless other posters I’ve seen framed on many a friend’s wall? They didn’t even try, really. They didn’t. Even. Try.
Clockwork Orange as number 55???? Please, that one’s my favorite, been on my wall for a long time now.
What a bad list. Some of those aren’t very good at all, much less one of the 100 best (or 99 as it should be since SPOILER ALERT there is no #100. Liars). (I should mention that since reading Videogum I’ve actually used that spoiler alert thing in IM conversations. It makes me laugh).
