These behind-the-scenes clips in which Wes Anderson taped himself acting out scenes from Fantastic Mr. Fox as a template for the animators are weird. Like, good thing he is a movie director or else I would be voice-dialing the hospital right now. “Hospital.” (That’s how you do it.)

  1. Wes Anderson always wanted to be in one of his fuckin’ plays.

  2. Sure, when I do that, it’s creepy, but when Wes Anderson does it its…still creepy. Huh. Famous people really are just like us!

  3. In all seriousness though, that was a cool little video. It’s footage of a guy problem-solving.
It’s a much more personal, warmer-feeling version of Ang Lee hooked up to all that motion-capture equipment when he was acting like the Hulk for his 2003 film, “The Hulk.”

  4. this movie is so so good, you guys. saw it last night. want to see it again.

    • wasn’t being sarcastic. this movie is bloody brilliant. Makes much sense that Wes did the live action shoots before the animation cause the timing of some of the jokes were too perfect.

  5. I thought we were boycotting Wes Anderson cause of the rape petition!

  6. I don’t see anything weird about these videos. He wanted to give it as much of a natural feel as you could do with stop motion animation. When I want to do something that looks real I will take pictures/shoot videos doing it and then try to replicate it.

He actually made the voice actors act out the scenes as well. Saw a clip of George Clooney doing it.

This movie might just live up to its name. Looking forward to it!

  7. I’m going to see this film tomorrow for my birthday right after eating at an Indian restaurant (indie cred…right?) What a fun, sexy time for me.

  8. I would suggest you see it if you like movies and being entertained.
